With tranquil rural surroundings and a large countryside pub garden, we are delighted to be able to welcome you back to The White Bear again from Saturday July 4. Here are a few “new normal” house rules to follow that will help to make the process smoother and more enjoyable for everyone. We thank you all for your cooperation.

Opening times

Booking

Please do not try to book a table. We will only be serving outside for the time being and, due to the size of our garden, we will not be taking bookings to start. We will also only be taking parties of six people maximum.

Arrival

Once you have arrived at The White Bear, please drive to the rear car park and make your way to the staff member there. As the government has asked us to keep details of all patrons visiting, the person meeting you at the rear entrance will need to take your details. Please be patient while they do this.

You will then be directed to an available table, or asked to wait until one becomes available. Please be mindful of others and keep to social distancing rules should there be a queue. This is, of course, also weather dependent. All our tables are outside and some do not have shelter or shade. Please remember your sunscreen and raincoats.

On wet days, we will be aiming to move people inside but numbers will be restricted.

Ordering

Our burger shack will be open serving a reduced menu featuring burgers, salads and sandwiches (The White Bear’s usual menu will NOT be available until further notice).  Please note your table number and order from The Burger Shack. There you will be given your cutlery and sauces. Your food will be brought to your table.

For drinks, there will be an outside bar located near the front door. It will only be a limited bar, so please bear with us as we find our feet and add more to the bar. Again, please keep to social distancing rules while you queue for the bar.

Payment

We will be taking cash and card – however where possible please pay by card.

Facilities

There will be no access to the inn from the front door. Should you need to visit the restrooms, you will need to follow the signs to the back of the inn where the loos are. There be a one-way system so follow the signs out (exiting at the patio and stopping to see the actual white bear).

Finally

We just want to extend another huge thank you for all your support at this unusual and difficult time for everyone. We can't wait to welcome you back to The White Bear.
