
From the White Bear to Botley Hill Farmhouse and back. Approx 11 miles in total.
From the car park, turn right on to Fairchildes Road, and as you go around the left-hand bend take the bridleway on your right - just a couple of minutes from your start point.
Head towards a small gate and proceed through, then cycle down a steep hill and up the other side. When you reach the top of the hill, the path turns left and continues for about 200 yards.
When you reach a second metal gate and Scotshall Lane, turn left and head along the road for 5 minutes where you will come to a junction.
Turn right into Church Lane and continue for 10 minutes until you reach a road on your left called Ledgers Road. Head up Ledgers Road for another 10 minutes until you reach a small lane called Wash Pond Lane where you should turn left.
Continue for 5 minutes down then up a steep hill until you meet a junction at the top called Beech Farm Road where you will turn right.
Continue for 15 minutes on a long straight road with sharp bend to the right at the end until you meet Croydon Road, where you should turn left back on to the cycle path towards Botley Hill Farmhouse for another 15 minutes.
Heading back
From Botley Hill Farmhouse car park, turn right on to the cycle path for about 200 yards until you approach The Ridge. Turn right.
Cycle for about 10 minutes and take the bridleway opposite Chalkpit Lane which will be the first on your right.
Continue for 10 minutes through the woods on a gravel path, passing two stables on your left. After about 5 minutes more you will start to go down a steep hill towards the bottom of Slines Oak Road.
Turn right and head slightly up hill on the road for a few minutes and you will see Warren Barn Farm on your right.
Take the left turn just past Warren Barn Farm into Upland Road and head up the slight hill towards the junction with Butlers Dene Road.
Turn right on to Butlers Dene Road and follow this road for a few minutes until you come to the junction with Halliloo Valley Road.
Cross Halliloo Valley Road into High Lane and head up the hill until you pass some buildings on your right and Plantation Road on your left. Be careful as you approach the busy junction at the top.
Cross over the road to the cycle route on Rogers Lane. Follow the route until you reach Chelsham Road, then turn right and follow the road, taking the right fork on to Chelsham Common Road after a short distance.
Continue straight at the crossroads where Chelsham Common Road becomes Church Lane. After a few minutes, take the bridlepath on the left signposted Cycle Route 21.
Cycle through the woodland, following the path round a sharp right-hand bend, until you meet Farleigh Court Road where you will turn right and then left through the small metal gate on to High Hill Road - prepare for the steep climb uphill!
Proceed through the small gate at the end of the lane and turn left onto Fairchildes Lane. After a couple of minutes you will see The White Bear on your left.
Keep a look out for horses which you must give way to at any time!
